We are seeking a dedicated and proactive regulatory expert to assist in navigating the evolving landscape of market rules and regulations essential for our objectives. You will collaborate within a focused team, providing guidance to colleagues engaged in the generation and trading of electricity from our current power station portfolio, as well as those exploring new avenues for low-carbon energy production.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and deliver briefings on significant regulatory changes impacting our existing operations, development initiatives, and strategic growth plans, including wholesale market, balancing market, capacity market, and grid connection issues.
  • Evaluate and advise the UK team on Ofgem reports and associated activities and positions.
  • Participate in Energy UK and other trade association meetings, as well as industry discussions with regulators and system operators, representing Uniper's interests based on established positions.
  • Draft written responses to pertinent industry and regulatory consultations.
  • Facilitate and coordinate meetings with Ofgem, government representatives, system operators, and other relevant entities, supporting the Head of UK Regulatory Management and collaborating with the Energy Policy and Regulation team.
  • Engage with the business and, when necessary, the legal team to comprehend regulations and market rules applicable to our operations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of key compliance elements, including competition law and REMIT.

Your Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as economics or law.
  • Proven understanding of compliance with applicable competition law and market transparency principles.
  • Strong ability to formulate effective arguments and communicate them persuasively, both verbally and in writing, to government bodies, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Capacity to align Uniper's overarching strategy and business objectives in developing consultation responses.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex data and regulations, extracting key points relevant to our business.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong influencing skills, capable of representing Uniper's positions at external meetings with credible and clear arguments.

Desirable Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of the commercial landscape, regulatory framework, and energy policy impacting Uniper's operations.
  • Experience in an international corporate setting, with familiarity regarding EU-UK market interactions.
