Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our team at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Young People's Specialist Support Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our new service, which aims to improve the quality of life for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with children and young people with learning disabilities, including those with autism and/or behaviour that challenges. You will have experience of using principles of positive behavioural support and developing PBS plans, as well as experience of working in multi-agency settings.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a system-wide difference to children with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. If you are a motivated and experienced professional who is committed to delivering high-quality care, we would love to hear from you.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs, including those with autism and/or behaviour that challenges.
  • Develop and implement positive behavioural support plans to improve the quality of life for children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including clinical psychologists, learning disability nurses, and support workers.
  • Contribute to the development of the Young People's Specialist Support Team and the delivery of our new service.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality care.
Person Specification

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A relevant health or social care qualification with current professional registration.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
  • Experience of using principles of positive behavioural support and developing PBS plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, listening, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with different agencies.
  • Ability to reflect, appraise, and evaluate learning from experience.
  • Ability to identify own learning needs.
