Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our team at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Community Learning Disability Nurse team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our Young People's Specialist Support Team service.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of expertise in working with children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary team to provide intensive support and develop person-centred positive behaviour support plans.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and formulate individualised care plans for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs.
  • Develop and implement positive behaviour support plans to promote positive outcomes and reduce restrictive practices.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support and guidance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of our Young People's Specialist Support Team service, including the creation of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of the team's strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Relevant health or social care qualification with current professional registration (e.g. R.N.L.D, BSC Hons in Learning Disability Nursing and Social work or equivalent relevant experience).
  • NMC registration.
  • Post-registration qualifications in related subjects (e.g. Positive Behavioural Support, Community Specialist Practitioner, Autism).
  • Completion of CYP IAPT LD.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience supervising therapy assistants.
  • Experience of functional assessment and analysis.
  • Experience of co-production.
  • Experience of facilitating therapeutic groups.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of Positive Behavioural Support Principles (PBSP).
  • Understanding of government legislation and key policy documents relevant to the role.
  • Working knowledge of SEND.
  • Understanding of the Transforming Care agenda.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice and the implications for clinical practice.
  • Capacity to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly distressing difficulties and situations.
  • Knowledge and experience of working within a Safeguarding Framework.
