The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is looking to recruit a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialized focus on Colorectal Cancers, particularly in the areas of Lanarkshire Colorectal and Regional Anal Cancers.

Established in May 2007, the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre represents a significant investment of £110 million, making it Scotland's largest cancer facility and the second largest in the UK. The centre has received substantial funding, enabling our clinical teams to provide oncology services to a population of approximately 2.9 million across four Health Board areas. It is an integral part of the CRUK virtual comprehensive cancer treatment and research network, which includes the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research and an upcoming Translational Research Centre. The facility also houses the Regional Haemato-oncology Autologous Transplant Unit and the National Allogeneic Transplant Service for hematological malignancies.

Our state-of-the-art equipment includes 11 linear accelerators equipped with on-board imaging, and we incorporate advanced techniques such as Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), and Stereotactic Radiotherapy into our service offerings. The centre utilizes Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) technology to enhance the delivery of IMRT. A new brachytherapy unit and program have also been established, alongside a satellite centre that was launched to address local radiotherapy capacity needs.

The Beatson is recognized internationally as a leading academic institution, with Professors of Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Translational Research, and Palliative Care currently in position.

Our Clinical Research Unit is the largest of its kind funded by Cancer Research UK, providing essential support to clinicians at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre for initiating and conducting first-in-human clinical trials. The unit boasts a comprehensive portfolio of Phase I-III studies across various cancer sub-specialties, with a particular emphasis on developing new anti-cancer therapies, supported by dedicated staff and facilities for early-phase clinical trials. Additionally, it is home to Scotland's first coordinating centre for the National Cancer Research Institute.

Applicants are required to hold full GMC registration or be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register. UK trainees should provide evidence of Higher Specialist Training leading to CCT or be within six months of confirmed entry from the interview date.
