Job Overview

We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for two Senior Digital Change Specialists within our Digital and Technology Group (DTG).

These positions are full-time and offered on a permanent basis. Please note that these roles are exclusively available for candidates based in the UK. Our current operational model is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 40% of contracted hours to be spent on-site to foster collaboration and engagement with partners and stakeholders essential for the success of our organization. This on-site requirement may increase to 60% throughout the year, driven by business needs.

The Digital and Technology Group (DTG) is pivotal to our mission, tasked with delivering an optimized IT infrastructure and maximizing the secure utilization of data. This enables our scientists, inspectors, and the broader organization to provide exceptional services that improve outcomes for patients and the public. Our contributions were vital in the rapid approval of COVID-19 vaccines in 2020 and in establishing the UK’s own medicines and devices approval systems post-EU exit. The work we undertake is significant.

The Digital & Service Design Group offers a variety of services through its practice-based model, including user research, service design, business analysis, change management, and product management. This group is responsible for the customer experience within the division and is enhancing its in-house capabilities in Digital Product Management and User-Centered Design.

Role Responsibilities

This high-profile position involves direct collaboration with the business to facilitate the Agency’s digital change management across our portfolio, programs, and projects.

The Senior Digital Change Specialist will provide visible and effective leadership, spearheading the business change management efforts for digital initiatives. This role is essential in proactively preparing the organization for the impacts of the digital transformations being implemented.

You will act as a liaison between digital projects and business users, ensuring that activities are strategically planned and executed to enable the organization to adopt the agreed digital changes and realize their benefits.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of change management strategies and plans for designated projects and programs.
  • Creating training plans and approaches, as well as managing business readiness criteria across delivery plans.
  • Playing a key role in communications and engagement, working with the Communications Team to craft and execute plans, content, and events that provide timely and accurate information to staff and stakeholders regarding changes.
  • Offering change management expertise and subject matter knowledge in design workshops, supporting digital delivery teams in enhancing business understanding of the organization, its services, and operational methodologies.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished change manager with a proven history of delivering digital transformations that provide value to customers. You should possess the ability to foresee the comprehensive impact of digital changes on organizational culture, structure, morale, and the diverse needs of end users, including accessibility considerations. Recognizing early indicators of potential issues and responding promptly is essential. You will be expected to constructively challenge senior management on change proposals.

Extensive experience and a demonstrated ability to deliver change effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team are required, along with the capacity to delegate appropriately and add value through strategic thinking.

A successful track record in developing change practices, ensuring consistent application of best practice models and methodologies, is crucial.

You should also exhibit a strong understanding of the complexity and diversity of customer needs and expectations, as well as the full implications of change on culture, structure, and morale, using your discretion and capability to establish your own work plans and approaches.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary of £56,353, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency contributes £15,215 towards your membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

  • Annual Leave: 25 days of annual leave upon entry, increasing by one day for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 30 days, pro-rata for part-time staff.
  • Privilege Leave: 1 day.
  • Hours of Work: 37 hours (net) per week for full-time staff across all geographical locations, including London, pro-rata for part-time staff.
