About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional EH&S Manager to lead our Ashby site's health, safety, and sustainability efforts. As a key member of our team, you will drive and implement strategies for continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and promoting a strong safety and learning culture within the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a safe working environment, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety procedures
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to drive EHS excellence
  • Stay up-to-date with legal compliance and update management on new legislation
  • Lead investigations, record, and report on all accidents
  • Drive EHS training and communication throughout the site, planning, and providing relevant inductions and training courses for employees and contractors
  • Establish safety audits, site walks, and inspections to foster a culture of ongoing improvement in environmental and safety standards
  • Design and implement environmental management systems
  • Manage and continuously improve ISO14001 and ISO45001 accreditations
  • Establish a comprehensive program of risk assessments for all operational activities, including documentation and training needs
  • Provide reports for senior management on current safety initiatives
  • Ensure the health and safety of all personnel through management of risk assessment programs
  • Maintain and ensure the application of HSE policies and procedures in line with company requirements and legislative changes
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure procedural compliance
  • Lead Health and Safety meetings and the election of Health and Safety representatives
  • Liaise effectively with regulatory authorities on all environmental and health and safety issues
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced EH&S professional with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field
  • NEBOSH General Diploma qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the chemicals industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation
  • Experience in carrying out and documenting risk assessments and environmental management
  • Understanding and experience of COSHH
  • An in-depth knowledge of regulations
Competencies
  • Training in accident and incident investigating and reporting
  • Competent in writing Safe Working Procedures and carrying out risk assessments
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work alone and manage own workload
  • Strong time management skills
  • A passion for good health, safety, and environmental culture
  • A flexible attitude due to the varying day-to-day requirements
  • Ability to work at senior level, effecting change, but also hands-on, working with the team solving problems and educating
