PRIVATE EQUITY PORTFOLIO ANALYST

Maven Capital Partners is seeking a dedicated Portfolio Analyst to enhance our London/South operations. This position will report directly to the Portfolio Director.

The primary objective of this role is to assist the senior portfolio management team in fostering value creation within our private equity investment portfolio. This involves monitoring growth trajectories and cash flow requirements against established plans, conducting in-depth analyses, and preparing comprehensive reports for the Maven investment committee to assess progress.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the portfolio team to provide strategic support and guidance to the management teams of investee companies. This includes challenging existing strategies, facilitating the execution of value enhancement plans, and leveraging professional network connections when necessary, all aimed at maximizing shareholder value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the portfolio management function by attending board meetings of investee companies and engaging with management teams to offer strategic insights and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain regular communication with portfolio companies to ensure the timely provision of essential information.
  • Assist in the management of investee businesses to grasp the dynamics of growth, including the analysis of management accounts and board presentations.
  • Contribute to the creation of insightful monthly and quarterly performance updates and reviews for individual and consolidated small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the portfolio.
  • Update the fund administration platform with monthly financial performance data and quarterly valuation information for investee companies.
  • Support the development of investment committee proposals for follow-on funding or modifications to investment terms.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the line manager or leadership team that align with the role's scope and purpose.
  • Adhere to and promote all organizational policies, including those related to Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety.

Qualifications for Success

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research new industry sectors, quickly assimilate information, and draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Proficient in Excel modeling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong relationship management skills, capable of effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resilient and resourceful in supporting the portfolio management function during challenging situations with investee businesses.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of the commercial environment in which businesses operate, coupled with a professional approach to dealing with investee companies.
  • A degree in a relevant quantitative discipline.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Possession of or progress towards a professional accountancy or investment-related qualification.
