PRIVATE EQUITY PORTFOLIO ANALYST
Maven Capital Partners is seeking a dedicated Portfolio Analyst to support our London/South division. This position will work closely with the Portfolio Director.
The primary objective of this role is to assist the senior portfolio management team in enhancing value within our private equity investment portfolio. This includes monitoring growth trajectories and cash flow requirements, conducting in-depth analyses, and preparing comprehensive reports for the investment committee to assess progress. The successful candidate will collaborate with the portfolio team to provide strategic support and guidance to management teams of investee companies, critically evaluating strategies, aiding in the execution of value enhancement plans, and leveraging professional networks to maximize shareholder value.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the portfolio management function by attending board meetings of investee companies and engaging with management teams to offer strategic insights and constructive feedback.
- Maintain regular communication with portfolio companies to ensure timely information exchange.
- Assist in the management of investee businesses to grasp the dynamics of growth, including the analysis of financial statements and board presentations.
- Contribute to the creation of detailed monthly and quarterly performance updates and reviews for individual and consolidated portfolio companies.
- Update the fund administration system with monthly financial performance and quarterly valuation data of investee companies.
- Assist in preparing investment committee proposals for follow-on funding or modifications to investment terms.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager or leadership team that align with the role's objectives.
- Adhere to and promote all organizational policies, including those related to Equality and Diversity and Health & Safety.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research new industry sectors, quickly assimilate information, and draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
- Proficient in Excel modeling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- A collaborative team player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong relationship management skills, capable of effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Resilient and resourceful in supporting the portfolio management function through challenging situations with investee businesses.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Solid understanding of the commercial environment in which businesses operate and a professional approach in dealings with investee companies.
- A degree in a relevant quantitative discipline.
