Job Summary

The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join their well-established team in the Skin Unit. The successful candidate will have a strong background in dermatology and plastic surgery, with a minimum of two years post-registration experience.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Unit Manager in the Skin Unit and within the wider trust.
  • Develop, improve, and evaluate best practices within the unit.
  • Organise and participate in meetings as required.
  • Deliver and oversee care for patients with a wide variety of dermatological conditions.
  • Provide wound care to patients following plastic surgery, utilising expert clinical knowledge to inform practice.
  • Assist in minor surgery and provide aftercare.
  • Take charge of the area in the absence of the Unit Manager.
  • Act as a role model, supporting and mentoring other staff as required.
  • Uphold the trust values at all times.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Two years post-registration experience in dermatology and plastic surgery.
  • Excellent clinical and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable

  • NHS experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Portfolio of accredited relevant education.
