Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulating and executing Birkbeck's comprehensive research strategy.
  • Enhancing research performance and supervising high-caliber submissions for national assessments.
  • Upholding the utmost standards of research governance and integrity.
  • Overseeing the commercialization and impact generation of research outputs.
  • Assisting faculty leaders in cultivating research endeavors with significant economic implications.
  • Leading the deployment of the Knowledge Exchange Framework.
  • Chairing the College's Innovation and Commercialization Board.
  • Managing all personnel within the research, innovation, and knowledge exchange sectors.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in strategic planning, budget oversight, and project management.
  • A comprehensive understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks within a university context.
  • Experience in managing research selectivity or audit exercises.
  • A successful track record in establishing international research collaborations and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in motivating staff and achieving high performance standards.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Knowledge Exchange and Innovation) will receive a competitive salary aligned with Grade 10 of the College's London pay scale. This role encompasses a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week, complemented by a hybrid working model. Additional benefits include a consolidated weighting/allowance for staff based in Greater London.
