Senior Water Resources Planner

At South West Water, we're committed to providing water services to our communities in the most efficient and sustainable way possible. As a Senior Water Resources Planner, you'll play a critical role in supporting our water resources management strategies, covering South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water, and Isles of Scilly regions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and oversee delivery of analysis on water supply and demand dynamics.
  • Assess risks and identify opportunities to enhance the sustainability and resilience of our water resources.
  • Draw on data presented to you by analysts to influence decision-makers.
  • Support the identification, screening, and appraisal of new supply options, including alternative sources such as groundwater, surface water, and recycled water.
  • Scope and oversee delivery of hydrological modelling and supply system modelling.
  • Develop and apply investment decision-making tools to assess the best-value options for water resources infrastructure investments.
  • Lead the efforts to integrate water supply requirements with other catchment drivers, such as water quality management and flood risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to assess and prioritise water infrastructure projects.
Requirements:
  • Scientific/Environmental/Hydrology/related Degree.
  • Experience in water resources planning in a regulated environment, with a focus on strategic planning and analysis.
  • Experience of running water resources system models such as Miser, Aquator or PYWR, or with other hydraulic modelling tools such as EPANET or Infoworks.
