Community Support Facilitator

Islington, Greater London, United Kingdom Hestia Housing Support Full time
Position Overview

Join Hestia Housing Support. Make a meaningful impact.

At Hestia, we are dedicated to fostering a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment. Our organization provides a range of essential services, including support for Domestic Abuse, Modern Slavery, Mental Health & Complex Needs, and Criminal Justice. We empower individuals to rebuild their lives and regain their independence.

About the Service...

The Approved Premises (AP) program focuses on high-risk offenders, playing a crucial role in public safety. AP serves as a transitional phase from incarceration to community integration, offering a unique level of support, supervision, and contact that is unparalleled in the probation sector.

Staff engage with residents daily, becoming deeply involved in their lives by providing guidance and support while maintaining oversight and control. This close interaction allows AP staff to monitor residents' well-being, customize support, and stay informed about their actions and behavioral changes in a way that no other intervention can achieve.

The primary objective of AP staff is to motivate and assist residents in taking charge of their own lives rather than doing things for them. While some residents may need help managing their daily routines, they are afforded the freedom to make choices, including the possibility of making mistakes, even if those choices lead to negative outcomes. Staff are responsible for ensuring residents understand their obligations.

All client-facing personnel in the Approved Premises operate on a rotating schedule, which includes a mix of early, late, and weekend shifts, as well as night shifts for Out of Hours staff.

A Typical Day in This Role...

As an Out of Hours Community Support Facilitator at Hestia, you will be instrumental in our Criminal Justice service. Your efforts will directly impact the lives of our service users, guiding them toward empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Your daily responsibilities may include:

  • Demonstrating positive social behaviors and attitudes, fostering a culture of respect among clients and colleagues.
  • Engaging actively with clients and facilitating opportunities for interaction, including meal preparation.
  • Collaborating with probation officers, law enforcement, and external agencies to implement the sentence plan.
  • Providing administrative support to colleagues, particularly in organizing and evaluating purposeful activities.
  • Ensuring completion of tasks outlined in daily schedules.
  • Adhering to protocols, promoting compliance, and taking necessary enforcement actions, especially regarding drug and alcohol testing and curfews.
  • Keeping colleagues, multi-agency partners, and management informed and updated as required.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the Approved Premises and the well-being of its residents through various methods.
  • Completing all related administrative tasks promptly, ensuring accurate and detailed records are maintained and confidentiality is upheld.
  • Using initiative to identify and address additional tasks or issues as they arise.

Why Choose Hestia?

Becoming a part of Hestia means more than just employment; it’s an opportunity to contribute to a greater cause. We provide a supportive, inclusive, and solution-oriented work environment where your contributions are valued. As a team member, you will have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.

We seek candidates who bring a blend of passion, expertise, and commitment. To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with others and provide a flexible, responsive approach.
  • A positive outlook on the potential for change and individuals' capacity for transformation.
  • The ability to learn quickly, gather information, and make sound decisions.
  • The capacity to maintain appropriate boundaries while working positively and pro-socially with individuals.
  • Proficiency in receiving, processing, and accurately documenting detailed information while ensuring confidentiality.
  • An understanding of the emotional and behavioral effects of trauma and the ability to work with individuals displaying a range of emotions and behaviors.
  • The ability to collaborate as part of a team, leading by example and engaging in practical tasks.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues and the ability to address them appropriately.
  • This position is open to female candidates only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).

Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion

Our service users come from diverse backgrounds, and so do we. We value the skills, abilities, and experiences that individuals from various communities bring to our organization. We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.

We are a disability confident employer...

Hestia is committed to the employment and career development of individuals with disabilities. We operate a guaranteed interview scheme for all applicants with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria for the role. We will also accommodate reasonable adjustments during the selection process and throughout your employment.

Please note that we reserve the right to close this job advertisement early if we receive a high volume of applications or if the position is filled before the closing date.
