About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Intervention Officer to join our team at Hestia Housing Support. As an Intervention Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, person-centred support services to residents, promoting rehabilitation and compliance with statutory orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored and bespoke keywork and interventions to residents, encouraging positive change and rehabilitation.
  • Develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with residents, promoting trust and confidence.
  • Monitor residents and take enforcement action as required, ensuring public protection measures are adhered to.
  • Contribute to the delivery of sentence plans in conjunction with colleagues in probation, the police, and other external agencies.
  • Provide administrative support to colleagues, including preparation, facilitation, and evaluation of purposeful activities.
  • Ensure all tasks detailed on daily task sheets are carried out, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Follow protocols and procedures, taking enforcement action as necessary, particularly around drug and alcohol testing requirements and curfews.
  • Engage with clients, providing opportunities for them to participate in activities, including cooking and leisure activities.
  • Maintain the health, safety, security, cleanliness, and hygiene of the Approved Premises, utilizing information sharing, CCTV, direct observation, inspection, personal contact, and other methods as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate and detailed records are created contemporaneously, sharing information appropriately and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Use initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks or issues as they arise, demonstrating a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, including management, to ensure the service is a psychologically informed environment, meeting the criteria for an Enabling Environment accreditation.
  • Adhere to operational requirements detailed in the latest Approved Premises Manual, in print or on EQUIP.
  • Work within Hestia's policies and procedures, where these do not conflict with requirements of the Ministry of Justice or Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service.
  • Actively and consistently demonstrate The Hestia Approach.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults, ideally those with experience of the Criminal Justice System.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering direct keywork, supporting those with a history of offending behaviour, delivering meaningful interventions to encourage positive change in people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the antecedents to, and consequences of, offending behaviour.
  • Demonstrable ability to empower residents to make choices and take control of their offending behaviours, in order to realise their potential and achieve a future of desistance.
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with others, providing a flexible and responsive approach.
  • Capacity to maintain firm boundaries, using authority legitimately while working pro-socially and positively with people.
  • Ability to receive, process, and accurately record detailed information, sharing it with others as appropriate and within the framework of confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the emotional and behavioural impact of trauma and ability to work with people who may display a range of emotions, behaviours, and communication challenges.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, leading by example, taking a pragmatic, hands-on approach to practical tasks such as cooking, gardening, and other 'household' chores and leisure activities.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills and ability to produce professional letters and correspondence.
