About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work within the Ward Flow Coordinator role at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting patient flow through the hospital and working with clinical teams to facilitate simple and complex discharges.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Ward Manager on the Acute Medical Unit and the Flow Team Leader to manage an ever-changing fast-paced workload in a busy environment.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to collaborate with patients, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate effective patient care and discharge planning.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Trust's vision, values, strategic objectives, and key work programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with the demands faced by the NHS and adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
  • Prioritize own workload independently and manage competing demands to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient use of resources.
  • Be approachable and open to an ever-changing work environment, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt to new skills and procedures.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent, providing a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE's or A Levels.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ's/Diploma.

Essential Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience in an acute healthcare setting or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of the Trust's vision, values, strategic objectives, and key work programs.
  • Knowledge of the demands faced by the NHS.

Desirable Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience communicating with patients, families, and members of the MDT to facilitate complex discharges.

Essential Skills

  • IT skills.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload.

Desirable Skills

  • Note taking.
  • Allscripts training.
  • Admin experience.
