Job Summary:

St Philip's School is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Finance Manager to oversee all financial and payroll operations. This includes managing financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Monitor the organisation's financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing regular updates to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Supervise and mentor the administration team.
  • Process invoices and complete monthly payment run.
  • Disbursement and Reimbursement of petty cash on a weekly basis.
  • Upload credit card transactions & reconciliation.
  • Process all aspects of payroll including starters/leavers and pension administration.
  • Purchase ledger tasks as required.
  • Follow up and deal with supplier queries and investigating discrepancies.
  • Support the HR and Administration functions with annual leave, PVG records and all other associated tasks as required.
  • Organise and negotiate all telephone contracts for the school's services and staff.
  • Oversee the administration of new school vehicles and associated tasks with insurers etc.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Sage Accounting and all Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and processes.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
  • Good organisational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
  • Relevant procurement experience.

Qualifications:

  • At least Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / Scottish Vocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar or relevant role.
