About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at East London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects, and system changes to support whole school and whole community approaches to young people's mental health.
  • Work closely with schools, educational settings, and healthcare partners to increase mental health awareness and provide targeted support to children and young people.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and screenings, and make assessments of risk to ensure the well-being and safety of children and young people.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with schools, educational settings, and healthcare partners to ensure seamless delivery of services.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1-year 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' or IAPT 'Child Wellbeing Practitioner' postgraduate diploma.
  • Post-qualification experience as an EMHP and experience of working in schools.
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others in educational and health settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Experience of delivering specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (Guided Self-Help, CBT, parent work).
  • Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and families.
  • Ability to conduct group parenting and group young person programs.
  • Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group.
  • Ability to conduct mental health assessments and screenings of children and young people.
  • Ability to make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately and to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage.
