Join Dorset Police as a Community Support Officer
Salary: Grade 4 - Starting at £24,921 with annual increments up to £27,351 per annum. Please note that this salary is based on a full-time commitment of 37 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary will be adjusted accordingly.
Employment Type: Permanent
Work Arrangement: Static-Worker - This position requires presence at designated police premises, limiting remote work opportunities.
Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week, with flexibility for part-time applications considered based on operational needs.
Allowances: This role includes a Weekend Working payment.
About the Role:
As a Community Support Officer, you will play a vital role in assisting your community by facilitating communication with law enforcement. Your responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the primary contact for reporting crimes and incidents through various channels.
- Providing initial responses to a diverse range of inquiries from the public and partner organizations, offering guidance on legal matters and police procedures.
- Accurately documenting and processing information received.
- Engaging supportively with victims, witnesses, and the public, while escalating issues to appropriate police resources when necessary.
The Community Support Office operates Monday through Saturday.

What We Seek in Candidates:

Initial Training:
Successful candidates will be required to attend an initial induction course lasting approximately two weeks (37 hours each week), along with additional training as necessary. Overtime can be claimed for training hours beyond the standard schedule.
Flexibility in scheduling may be required during the training period.
