Job Overview

We are seeking a Band 2 Housekeeper for the Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (SAECU), who will also provide essential support to our affiliated ward, The Emergency Surgical Unit (C22). The successful candidate will deliver non-clinical assistance to the unit team, executing tasks assigned under the guidance of Registered Nurses on both SAECU and ESU.

The primary focus of this role is to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment for both patients and staff. This includes supporting the nutritional needs of patients by managing the ordering of non-clinical supplies and maintaining adequate stock levels within the ward. The post holder will have the responsibility to report any faults and initiate necessary actions to ensure the Ward operates smoothly.

Additionally, the individual will participate in relevant meetings, provide feedback, and collaborate with senior staff to facilitate effective delegation of tasks.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Overseeing the daily operations of patient services, including meal and beverage provision.
  • Maintaining up-to-date stock levels within the ward.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties, ensuring proper storage and cleanliness of all equipment and furnishings.
  • Managing the ordering of non-clinical supplies.
  • Engaging with and reassuring patients.
  • Reporting any faults or issues encountered.
  • Conducting clerical and administrative tasks, including monthly audits.
  • Welcoming visitors to the unit.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

As a Band 2 Housekeeper on SAECU and ESU, the post holder will provide crucial non-clinical support to the unit team, executing tasks under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The role is vital in maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff, supporting nutritional needs, and ensuring that supplies are adequately stocked.

The individual will be empowered to report faults and initiate necessary actions to ensure the Ward's efficient operation. Attendance at meetings and collaboration with senior staff will be essential for effective task delegation.

  • GCSE level 3 in Maths or an equivalent qualification.
