About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Junior Buyer to join our team at Peacocks. As a key member of our Buying team, you will play a crucial role in planning and implementing category strategy, ensuring that products are developed to optimize department profitability and support the wider company strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute buying strategies, including range building and product sourcing.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal product, prices, and terms of contract.
  • Manage critical path and deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks and raising any issues that may impact delivery.
  • Participate in meetings with senior stakeholders to communicate key information and ensure effective decision-making.
  • Analyze sales data to identify top-performing products and inform future product lines and seasonal collections.
  • Collaborate with the merchandising team to optimize stock levels within budget guidelines.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior team members.
  • Work with other departments to ensure the successful launch of new product lines and company initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable fashion experience, preferably at a Senior Assistant Buyer level.
  • Strong understanding of current fashion trends and market knowledge.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and experience with buying systems.
