Job Title: Junior Buyer

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Junior Buyer to join our team at Peacocks. As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in planning and implementing category strategy, ensuring that products are developed to optimize department profitability and support the wider company strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and execute buying strategies, including range building
  • Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimum product, prices, and terms of contract
  • Take ownership of critical path and deadlines, ensuring that any issues are raised and addressed
  • Participate in meetings at Director/Head of level, ensuring effective communication of key information
  • Review and analyze sales data, identifying top-performing products/lines, and making data-driven decisions for future lines/intakes
  • Keep up-to-date with competitor and retail trends to inform product selection
  • Work with the merchandising team to optimize stock levels within budget guidelines
  • Assist in the training and development of junior members of the team
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure the successful launch of new product lines/seasonal collections and other company initiatives
Requirements:
  • Demonstrable fashion experience gained at a Senior Assistant Buyer level
  • Good understanding of current fashion trends and market knowledge
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build strong relationships with suppliers
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages along with experience with buying systems
