About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Peacocks as a Fashion Retail Buyer, playing a crucial part in driving the business forward. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for sourcing, developing, buying, and delivering a specific range of products at the right cost, right time, and right place, ensuring company profit and cost budgets are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing Buying Strategies: Create and execute buying strategies that ensure trends and fashion are translated appropriately, creating product lines that are relevant to our brand and customer.
- Product Sourcing and Negotiation: Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimum product, prices, and terms of contract, utilizing supplier expertise to improve range and knowledge.
- Market Analysis and Data-Driven Decision Making: Review and analyze sales data, identifying top-performing products/lines, ensuring data-driven decisions are made for future lines/intakes and recommendations for improvement are made and presented.
- Collaboration and Communication: Lead meetings at Director/Head of level, ensuring effective key information is communicated and any actions are completed within set timescales, collaborating with other departments within the company to ensure the successful launch of new product lines/seasonal collections and other company initiatives.
- Team Leadership and Development: Provide effective guidance and training to junior team members, working with the merchandising team to optimize stock levels within budget guidelines.
Requirements
- Commercial Mindset and Fashion Retail Experience: Experience within a Fashion retail buying role with a commercial mindset, in-depth understanding of current fashion trends and market knowledge.
- Negotiation and Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers, good communication and interpersonal skills ensuring solid relationships within internal and external teams are developed and maintained.
- Analytical and Organizational Skills: Numerate with strong analytical skills, organized and detailed-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages along with experience with buying systems.
