Job Opportunity at Peacocks

We are seeking an ambitious and driven Junior Buyer to join our team at Peacocks, a leading fashion retailer based in Cardiff. As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Buying team in planning and implementing category strategy, ensuring that products are developed to optimize department profitability and support the wider company strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute buying strategies, including range building and product sourcing.
  • Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal product, prices, and terms of contract.
  • Take ownership of critical path and deadlines, ensuring that any issues are raised and addressed promptly.
  • Participate in meetings at Director/Head of level, ensuring effective communication of key information.
  • Review and analyze sales data, identifying top-performing products and lines, and making data-driven decisions for future lines and intakes.
  • Stay up-to-date with competitor and retail trends to inform product selection.
  • Collaborate with the merchandising team to optimize stock levels within budget guidelines.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior members of the team.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable fashion experience gained at a Senior Assistant Buyer level.
  • A good understanding of current fashion trends and market knowledge.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and experience with buying systems.
