Job Responsibilities
- Create and execute the buying strategy, including range building
- Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimum product, prices, and terms of contract
- Take ownership of critical path and deadlines, raising any issues that may arise
- Participate in meetings at Director/Head of level, ensuring effective key information is communicated
- Review and analyse sales data, identifying top-performing product/lines, and making data-driven decisions for future lines/intakes
- Keep up to date with competitor and retail trends to inform product selection
- Work with the merchandising team to optimise stock levels within budget guidelines
- Assist in the training and development of junior members of the team
- Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure the successful launch of new product lines/seasonal collections and other company initiatives
Requirements
- Demonstrable fashion experience gained at a Senior Assistant Buyer level
- A good understanding of current Fashion trends and market knowledge
- Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Organised and detailed orientated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages along with experience with buying systems
