The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team. As a key member of our anaesthetic department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, responsive anaesthetic services and perioperative care to patients within our catchment area.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement effective anaesthetic strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce complications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and optimize treatment plans.
- Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives to drive excellence in patient care.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide educational and training opportunities for junior staff and medical students.
- Engage in research and audit activities to advance the field of anaesthesia and perioperative medicine.
- Full Registration with the GMC with licence to practise.
- FRCA or equivalent qualification.
- CCT (or equivalent) with entry on Specialist Register for Anaesthesia or within six months of anticipated CCT date.
- Advanced training in perioperative medicine or equivalent.
- Higher training in general, urological and gynaecological surgery, obstetric anaesthesia, anaesthesia for day case head and neck and maxillofacial surgery, and anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery including regional anaesthesia and paediatric anaesthesia.
- Additional degree or post-graduate qualification (MRCP, MD etc).
- Post-graduate prizes.
- MSc/Diploma/PG certification in Perioperative Medicine or equivalent.
- Management/leadership qualification.
- Advanced training in cardiopulmonary exercise testing, orthopaedics, and/or regional anaesthesia, general, urological and gynaecological surgery, paediatric anaesthesia, and ATLS/APLS.
- Relevant medical experience outside anaesthesia.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to work harmoniously in a multi-disciplinary team showing respect for patients and colleagues.
