Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
Position: Internal Auditor
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (On-site presence required twice weekly)
This position involves frequent travel across the UK and Europe (approximately 50% of the role)
Are you a certified accountant (ICAEW) with a background in auditing, risk assessment, or control mechanisms? This opportunity is with a prominent and expanding organization that provides the chance to engage with a diverse range of internal business sectors and accelerate your career growth.
Due to ongoing expansion, we are thrilled to welcome an additional Internal Auditor to our esteemed team. This role offers the chance to collaborate closely with our Internal Audit Manager and senior Finance Leadership team within AB Agri and the broader ABF Group. You will conduct audits across various divisions, collectively generating over £1 billion in turnover. In this capacity, you will foster strong relationships throughout the organization while advising senior stakeholders on risks and growth opportunities, proposing solutions, and enhancing operational efficiency through robust control frameworks.
As the organization continues to evolve, you will also have the opportunity to participate in M&A activities from a financial perspective.
Responsibilities Include:
- Execute audit evaluations based on a schedule agreed upon with the Internal Audit Manager, AB Agri CFO, and ABF Director of Financial Control.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring adherence to the financial control framework.
- Present audit results and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare and distribute audit reports promptly, ensuring all recommendations are acknowledged and accepted by the audited division.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations by management and issue relevant follow-up reports.
- Ensure that external audit management letter points are addressed and that self-assessment management action plans are executed in a timely manner.
- Undertake ad-hoc project work as directed by the Internal Audit Manager, AB Agri CFO, and the ABF Director of Financial Control.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Qualified accountant with prior experience in internal or external auditing, risk management, and controls within a large corporate setting.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Previous experience with a Big 4 or Top 10 firm is essential.
- Knowledge and experience in auditing financial controls.
- A genuine eagerness to learn, expand your knowledge base, and make a significant impact.
- Ability to cultivate positive, trusting relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Valid driving license and confidence in traveling to rural locations across the UK.
