Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Research Scientist to join our team at the Francis Crick Institute. As a Laboratory Research Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research and experiments in our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and experiments in molecular biology techniques and bioarchaeology
  • Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment, including ancient DNA clean room facilities
  • Collaborate with other lab members on research projects and provide technical support
  • Participate in academic activities, including group meetings and journal clubs
  • Organize and manage laboratory databases, order supplies, and monitor budgets
  • Train and supervise other lab members in key techniques and protocols
  • Liaise with Science Operations and attend key quadrant meetings
  • Write risk assessments and SOPs and provide safety guidance to lab members

Requirements

  • BSc in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with molecular biology laboratory work and bioinformatics processing of genomic sequence data
  • Ability to communicate and present data
  • Experience with the use of databases and DNA library preparation methods
