Job Title: PhD Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PhD Research Scientist to join our Radiotherapy and Radiation Dosimetry group at the National Physical Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a variety of exciting research projects and measurement services that support the development of dosimetry for new and emerging radiotherapy techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support primary standard measurements using graphite calorimeters in various radiotherapy modalities.
  • Use modelling techniques using Monte Carlo methods to develop tools and guidelines for clinical adoption of microdosimetry.
  • Develop measurement techniques and detectors for various radiotherapy modalities.
  • Present research results in the form of publications, reports, and oral presentations at symposia and international conferences.
Requirements:
  • Good first degree in the physical sciences and a relevant PhD and/or postgraduate experience.
  • Excellent experimental skills, highly computer literate, and excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to the highest quality standards.
  • Previous experience in a calibration laboratory or radiotherapy department is an advantage.
