Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at the Medical Research Council. The successful candidate will have a strong background in steroid biochemistry and a proven track record of conducting cutting-edge research.
The role will involve undertaking a programme of research that links steroid biochemistry to metabolic dysfunction using in vitro and ex vivo approaches. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the direction of the work, conducting the research, analysing the data, and preparing the work for publication.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and extensive postdoctoral research experience in steroid biochemistry. They will also have a strong track record of scientific originality and creativity, demonstrated through publications.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the overall preparation of research for publication, identify, develop, and apply a broad range of techniques to pursue the research objectives, and keep up to date with developments in the field.
The role will also involve training students, postdoctoral scientists, and others, and line management of group members where appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to participate and project-manage collaborations to expand the scope of the lab's research.
