About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Scientist to join our Radiotherapy and Radiation Dosimetry group at the National Physical Laboratory. As a Research Scientist, you will play a key role in advancing our research in radiation dosimetry and therapy, and contributing to the development of new measurement services and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver research projects and measurement services in radiation dosimetry and therapy
  • Support primary standard measurements using graphite calorimeters in various radiotherapy modalities
  • Develop and apply modelling techniques using Monte Carlo methods
  • Develop tools and guidelines for clinical adoption of microdosimetry
  • Present research results in publications, reports, and oral presentations at symposia and international conferences
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a good first degree in the physical sciences and a relevant PhD and/or postgraduate experience. You will also have excellent experimental skills, be highly computer literate, and possess excellent written and oral presentation skills. Previous experience in a calibration laboratory or radiotherapy department would be an advantage, as would experience of Monte Carlo modelling.
