Job Title: Head of Collections Management and Acquisition

Location: London

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Collections Management and Acquisition team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to acquire high-value content, building global subject-based collections, and growing submissions and published articles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a Commissioning and Project Management team
    • Recruit and manage a team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors to deliver high-quality content.
    • Develop and implement performance-focused strategies to drive team success.
    • Engage regularly with team members to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  2. Deliver and input into the strategy for building content via Collections
    • Collaborate with journal owners to develop content development plans and agree on projects to bring forward.
    • Monitor and control collections performance at all stages of their lifecycle to inform content growth strategies.
    • Identify opportunities to maximize output from collections activity and develop targeted plans to achieve this.
    • Work with the Analytics Centre of Excellence to optimize machine learning technology and automatic collection topic identification.
  3. Recruit and manage Guest Editors
    • Recruit and train Guest Editors to ensure high-quality content handling.
    • Develop and implement strategies to drive engagement and satisfaction within the Guest Editors community.
  4. Support the development of tools needed to reliably deliver Collections content at scale
    • Collaborate with the Submission and Peer Review system team to optimize the management and delivery of collections content.
    • Work with the Product & Platform Group to optimize delivery of Collections content on our platforms.
  5. Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure the goals of the Collections Management and Acquisition team are achieved and the needs of our research communities are met
    • Build close working relationships with Publishing teams to ensure all requirements and perspectives are shared.
Requirements:
  • Professional line management skills.
  • Motivated and capable of planning, leading and delivering results.
  • Track record of working with different nationalities and cultures.
  • Flexibility to travel when needed.
  • A CV (which should include a brief account of the applicant's research accomplishments and of other relevant experience).
