Job Description

The Wallace Collection

The Wallace Collection is a world-renowned museum that showcases an unparalleled collection of art and artifacts. As a Collections Documentation Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of our collection data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and improve existing digital documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Update the Wallace Collection's Collections Management System (CMS) with new data, including data cleaning, auditing, and developing content.
  • Maintain collections management and documentation standards in preparation for the migration to a new CMS.
  • Support the Collection Systems Project Manager in devising the Collection-wide Improvement Plan for object data records.
  • Undertake targeted physical audits, on site and off site, and reconcile object records following these audits.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent vocational experience.
  • Strong database skills and experience of collections management systems.
  • At least one year of experience working in museum collections documentation.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office 365 software packages, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with data and terminology standards and their implementation in a museum context.
  • Experience with data cleaning projects and batch data and familiarity with SQL queries.
