The ideal candidate will possess at least the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, along with either the National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or the Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK) qualification, complemented by relevant experience in the UK construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:

In light of the upcoming retirement of the current HSE Manager, the company is seeking to appoint a new Lead Competent Person for HSE, ensuring adherence to current HSE legislation and approved codes of practice.

This is a Part Time role (3 Days per week).


Primary Duties:
  • Stay informed about HSE legislation and best practices.
  • Monitor, assess, and review existing and forthcoming HSE legislation, ensuring systems and practices are in place for legal compliance.
  • Advise the management team on the implications of current and emerging HSE legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations, and generating action plans for compliance.
  • Collaborate with all staff to establish and maintain systems that foster a culture of safe working practices, leading and managing health and safety initiatives to mitigate risks.
  • Provide HSE advice, training, guidance, and support to all organizational levels.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and leadership in HSE, promoting a positive culture that reduces accidents and enhances awareness.
  • Assist in identifying and delivering employee training needs for effective health, safety, and risk management.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure adherence to HSE procedures across all areas, ensuring appropriate feedback and actions are taken to mitigate risks.
  • Review HSE documents, including method statements, risk assessments, and COSHH assessments.
  • Organize and lead HSE representative meetings as required by law.
  • Manage accident and incident data, investigating circumstances and causes, and implementing necessary measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external safety, health, and environmental organizations, including regulatory authorities as needed.
