About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team at Macfarlane Packaging. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for expanding our sales of manufactured and bespoke packaging solutions across the Southern Midlands and Southeast region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Contact: Serve as the primary contact for new sales enquiries in the region, providing exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Product Expertise: Develop a comprehensive understanding of our product line and its applications, staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Demand Creation: Generate territory growth in line with commercial targets, identifying new business opportunities and developing strategies to drive sales growth.
  • Networking: Act as the product champion within the group, liaising with distribution sites to foster awareness and secure buy-in, leading to customer referrals.
  • Internal Support: Assist colleagues with training, collaborate with joint sales visits, product design, demonstrations, and customer application support.
  • Consultative Sales: Use a consultative approach to analyse and solve customer problems, presenting tailored solutions that meet their specific needs.
  • Customer Relationships: Build trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Innovation Support: Collaborate with the National Product Manager on new product design and innovation, staying ahead of the competition and driving business growth.
Requirements
  • Strong presentation, customer-facing, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and problem-solving abilities.
  • Full valid UK driving license.
  • Residing within a commutable distance of our manufacturing site in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.
