ASC Specialist HLTA

A prominent secondary educational institution is seeking dedicated staff to contribute to the management and operation of its ASC resource base. This base will include a SEND educator and three specially trained teaching assistants, ensuring a low pupil-to-adult ratio to cater to the individual needs of each child. Prior experience working with children on the Autism spectrum is crucial.

In this role, you will engage with students in the ASC resource base, assisting them in achieving their personalized developmental goals. Your responsibilities will include both one-on-one support and small group facilitation. Additionally, you will mentor less experienced teaching assistants, fostering their professional growth through a coaching methodology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the lead teacher of the resource base
  • Deliver exceptional support to students
  • Assist in the planning and resource allocation
  • Demonstrate effective teaching strategies
  • Guide and support the professional development of support staff

Essential Qualifications/Skills

  • HLTA certification
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Experience with individuals with SEN/Autism/Complex Needs/SEMH is preferred
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (valid visa required)
  • At least one recent child-related reference and relevant DBS/Police checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with children with SEND/SEMH needs
  • Relevant SEND/Education qualification
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching
