Position Overview

Are you seeking a rewarding opportunity within a supportive team, focusing on pharmaceutical services for mental health while also having the chance to engage with physical health initiatives?

We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated pharmacist to become part of our team. Previous experience in mental health is not a prerequisite, as comprehensive training will be provided. We encourage applications from pharmacists across various sectors, including community pharmacy.

If you do not fulfill all the essential criteria but possess a strong desire to advance your career in mental health services, we can offer a developmental role aimed at achieving the Band 8a position. Necessary training will be provided (Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Therapeutics). We maintain partnerships with local universities and promote staff to pursue further relevant qualifications and research opportunities. The final banding of the position will reflect the successful candidate's level of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

The position entails:

  • Collaborating with inpatient and community mental health teams
  • Supporting the Lead Mental Health Pharmacist in the oversight and strategic enhancement of patient-focused pharmacy services
  • No dispensary obligations or on-call duties, with no requirements for bank holiday or weekend shifts
  • Opportunities to engage with physical health and acute services if desired, as we are a Trust encompassing acute, community, and mental health services
  • Attractive relocation package available for eligible candidates.

We are open to considering part-time and flexible working arrangements.

Cross-site collaboration will be necessary, so it is essential to have a valid driver's license and access to personal transportation. We operate from three locations, and your primary base will be determined by your home location, with potential travel to hospital sites within a reasonable distance.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Master's degree in pharmacy or equivalent
  • Registered independent prescriber or willingness to undertake NMP training.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Postgraduate training in Mental Health
  • Credentialed member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Proven pharmacy experience delivering clinical pharmacy practice at an advanced level.

Desirable Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in managing medications for mental health patients
  • Experience in clinical training, supervision, and/or mentoring of pharmacy staff
  • Experience in staff appraisal and objective setting.
