Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and innovative pharmacist to lead our clinical effectiveness team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Effectiveness, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing clinical and cost-effectiveness medicines utilisation strategies across the trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with commissioners, ICB, and NHSE regional specialist commissioning teams to develop and deliver efficiency savings plans for High-Cost Drugs budgets and medicine utilisation in Somerset.
  • Build close relationships with clinical teams to support the development and implementation of treatment pathways for high-cost drugs and new treatments.
  • Manage the Trust formulary with a robust evidence-based approach, alongside clear implementation plans for new therapies, formulary decisions, and the implementation of NICE and commissioner-endorsed treatments.
  • Contribute to the delivery of general high-quality clinical pharmacy services meeting the needs of patients and healthcare professionals within the Trust.

Requirements
  • Masters degree or equivalent in Pharmacy.
  • Postgraduate Diploma and/or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and/or General Pharmacy Practice.
  • Full current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Significant experience in clinical pharmacy management of complex patients.
  • Demonstrable clinical pharmacy experience of general medicine, general surgery, and non-specialist service provision to acute and emergency patients.
  • Experience of staff management, appraisal, and objective setting.
  • Familiarity with national and local medicine commissioning.
