Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to join our team as a Lead Pharmacist Clinical Effectiveness Specialist. As a key member of our clinical pharmacy team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing clinical and cost-effectiveness medicines utilization strategies across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with commissioners, ICB, and NHSE regional specialist commissioning teams to develop and deliver efficiency savings plans for High-Cost Drugs budgets and medicine utilization in Somerset.
  • Build close relationships with clinical teams to actively support the development and implementation of treatment pathways for high-cost drugs and new treatments.
  • Manage the Trust formulary with a robust evidence-based approach, alongside clear implementation plans for new therapies, formulary decisions, and the implementation of NICE and commissioner-endorsed treatments.
  • Contribute to the delivery of general high-quality clinical pharmacy services meeting the needs of patients and healthcare professionals within the Trust.

Requirements
  • Masters degree or equivalent in Pharmacy
  • Postgraduate Diploma and/or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and/or General Pharmacy Practice
  • Full current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Registered independent prescriber
  • A recognised NHS leadership qualification or equivalent

  • Financial management
  • High-quality communication skills: written, verbal, telephonic, and the ability to work virtually using electronic means such as MS Teams
