Position: Assistant Planner

Willmott Dixon is seeking an Assistant Planner to contribute to dynamic new initiatives within our construction division. This role will be primarily based in a hybrid format, requiring attendance at our Hitchin office three days a week. The Assistant Planner will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, preconstruction, and site teams to develop accurate and risk-mitigated schedules, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Planner will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

• Assisting in the completion of the planning process.

• Aiding in the preparation of planning documentation for tender evaluations.

• Supporting the development of preconstruction and construction schedules that are verifiable and based on established outputs and sequences, informed by collaboration with our supply chain.

• Regularly monitoring schedules and updating the tender bid team on progress.

• Advising the tender bid team on the scheduling and logistical implications of any design modifications.

• Conducting site visits and compiling site reports.

• Assisting in the creation of clear and comprehensible site logistics plans that reflect a thorough and effective planning approach.

• Providing support to site teams in managing project timelines.

• Actively exploring opportunities for alternative construction methodologies, including Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), innovation, and value engineering, and sharing insights with the tender team.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following essential and desirable criteria:

Essential:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Solid mathematical proficiency.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Minimum relevant qualification at level 4 (HNC/NVQ4 or equivalent).

Desirable:
• Progressing towards MCIOB accreditation.
