Gastroenterology Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated professional to become a part of our gastroenterology team. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, and endoscopic gastroenterology services.
This position is primarily full-time; however, we welcome applications from candidates interested in part-time or job-share arrangements. Should a part-time or job-share candidate be selected, adjustments to the job plan will be discussed on an individual basis.
A particular focus in Gastroenterology, whether at a general or hepatology level, is encouraged. You will typically hold clinical responsibilities for a variety of outpatient and inpatient gastroenterological patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a high-quality, comprehensive gastroenterology service within a district general hospital, including endoscopic procedures, while ensuring the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the gastroenterology service, aligning with national standards and NICE guidelines.
- Provide professional oversight and management of junior medical staff, adhering to local employment and human resource policies.
- Engage in teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as necessary, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education at both local and national levels.
- Participate in medical audits and other clinical effectiveness initiatives, particularly those related to the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, to promote improvements in quality and standards.
- Maintain compliance with Trust Health and Safety policies to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Adhere to the principles of infection control practice as outlined in the Infection Control Manual.
- Ensure all responsibilities are executed to the highest standards in accordance with current quality initiatives.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing support during colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences.
