Prehabilitation Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Prehabilitation Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our Cancer Alliance Prehabilitation Team, you will play a vital role in improving the delivery of prehabilitation services at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity for a therapist to develop their clinical skills within oncology and contribute to the growth and development of our prehabilitation service. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centred and evidence-based therapy services to individuals with diverse, chronic, and complex presentations due to their cancer diagnosis and/or treatment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing specialist inter-disciplinary assessments and treatments as an autonomous practitioner.
- Developing and implementing prehabilitation programs for patients with lung cancer and immunotherapy, with the potential to expand this service to other tumour groups and treatment types.
- Working closely with the Therapy and Social Work Team members to ensure effective prioritisation of patients across Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.
- Being a key member of the Cancer Alliance Prehabilitation Team, Therapy and Social Work Team, and AHP Team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.
- Working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and external agencies to optimise patient care and experience.
- Providing advice, guidance, and information to health and social care professionals, carers, and relatives.
- Working closely with the Team Lead Physiotherapist and Oncology Specialist Occupational Therapist to plan, coordinate, and evaluate interventions.
- Taking a proactive role in education at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, including supervising and educating students and new members of staff.

Person Specification
We are seeking a candidate with a degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration. Experience of integrated therapy team and MDT working, as well as evidence of involvement in service improvement, is essential. A post-registration clinical educators training and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or Royal College of Occupational Therapists are desirable.
Skills and Qualities
We are looking for a candidate with excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced clinical reasoning and analytical skills, and the ability to influence, teach, and motivate others. Experience of supervising staff and/or students, including formal supervision and appraisal, is essential. Information Technology skills, including email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are also required.
