Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Midwife to lead our Community Midwifery Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional midwifery care to our patients and ensuring the highest standards of practice within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the team, ensuring that midwifery care is delivered to the highest standards.
    • Manage and coordinate the work of the team, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the team.
  • Clinical Governance
    • Ensure that midwifery care is delivered in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality of midwifery care, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care pathways for patients.
  • Staff Development
    • Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of team members, providing feedback and coaching as necessary.
    • Develop and implement succession planning to ensure the continuity of midwifery services.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure that midwifery services are integrated into the wider healthcare system.
    • Represent the interests of the midwifery team at Trust-wide meetings and forums.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Midwife with:

  • Essential Qualifications
    • First Level Registration with the NMC
    • Degree or working towards
    • Evidence of significant Continuing Professional Development
    • Evidence of management experience/training
    • Evidence of leadership experience/training
    • NMC recognised Teaching/Accrediting qualification
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Masters Degree
    • PMA
  • Essential Experience
    • Previous experience at Band 6 within all aspects of Midwifery, including community
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Evidence of being up-to-date with current issues relating to professional practice
    • Knowledge of key national policy drivers for Acute care
    • Can demonstrate practical application of quality standards within the clinical setting
    • Able to demonstrate effective management of staff and students, experience and performance
    • Credible clinical expert
    • Evidence of research-based practice
    • Organisational skills
    • Fully aware of clinical governance agenda
    • Experience and knowledge within the specialty or related field
    • Proven management skills
    • Able to promote equality, diversity, and rights
    • Fully aware of principles of infection control
    • Fully aware of health and safety issues
