Job Description

**Role Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Private Secretary to join our team at the Department for Work and Pensions. As a key member of our Communications Directorate, you will provide administrative support to the Director and Deputy Director, ensuring the smooth operation of their offices and contributing to the development of effective communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Provide high-level administrative support to the Director and Deputy Director, including managing their diaries, emails, and correspondence.
  • Communication Strategies: Contribute to the development of effective communication strategies, working closely with the Communications team to ensure that the Director and Deputy Director's messages are conveyed clearly and consistently.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, media representatives, and other external partners.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures, working closely with the Director and Deputy Director to ensure that they are aligned with departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of administrative procedures and communication strategies.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Education: A degree in a relevant field, such as business administration or communications.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) or a Certified Communications Professional (CCP).

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week. You will be based in our offices in London, with occasional travel to other locations as required.
