Job Title: Salaried GP Fixed Term 12-Month Contract

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic General Practitioner to join our team on a fixed-term 12-month contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical services to our patients, working 4 sessions per week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

About Us

Witton Street Surgery is a friendly and supportive practice with 9,500 patients based in Northwich, Cheshire. We are a training practice, high QOF achievers with a low home visit rate, and we value work-life balance. Our team includes 4 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 practice nurses, HCA, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, GPA, and MSK Specialist.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide general medical services, managing a caseload and dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Provide counselling and health education.
  • Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collect data for audit purposes.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Prescribe in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
Other Responsibilities
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines.
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  • Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
  • Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
  • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Confidentiality

The post-holder will have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff, and other healthcare workers. They will only divulge such information to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others' health, safety, and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy.

Communication

The post-holder will communicate effectively with other team members, patients, and carers, and will recognise people's needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.
