Job Title: Director of Waste Management

Job Summary:

Lorien, a leading public sector client, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Waste Management to join their expanding team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the operational activities in relation to Waste Services and managing the service, while carrying the principal strategic lead on statutory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Portfolio Holder and Director to ensure that the services are efficiently and effectively delivered, meeting statutory compliance and developed in a timely manner to meet future opportunities and threats.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date local, regional, and sub-regional market intelligence to identify opportunities and direct resources to secure financially advantageous outcomes.
  • Maintain effective relationships with elected representatives, including senior politicians, to build confidence in the service and maintain a strong understanding of the political direction, expectations, and sensitivities.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and management skills, with a strong background in waste management and a proven track record of delivering results in a public sector environment. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives.
