Job Purpose: To lead and direct the Council's operational activities in relation to Waste Services, contributing to making Stoke-on-Trent a great place to live, work and visit.
Key Responsibilities:
- To work with the Portfolio Holder and Director to ensure that the services efficiently and effectively deliver the requirements of the City Council; that they are statutorily compliant and developed in a timely manner to be best able to meet future opportunities and threats.
- To develop and maintain up-to-date local, regional and sub-regional market intelligence in order to identify opportunities and to direct such resources as are necessary to secure financially advantageous opportunities for the City Council and to ensure all the necessary political, financial and operational arrangements are in place to deliver the best advantage of the situation.
- To maintain effective relationships with elected representatives (including senior politicians) in order to both build the confidence of those representatives in the service and to maintain a strong, up-to-date understanding of the political direction, expectations and the sensitivities associated therewith.
- Leadership and Management: To lead and manage a team of professionals to deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of the City Council and its stakeholders.
- Strategic Planning: To develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the City Council's objectives and to ensure that the services are aligned with the Council's policies and procedures.
- Performance Management: To monitor and evaluate the performance of the services and to identify areas for improvement.
- Communication: To communicate effectively with stakeholders, including elected representatives, officers, and the public, to ensure that the services are delivered in a transparent and accountable manner.
- Continuous Improvement: To identify opportunities for continuous improvement and to implement changes that will enhance the delivery of the services.
