Senior Psychiatric Consultant for Acute Care

King's Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

This role includes a 'New Starter' incentive of £15,000 distributed over three years as a retention bonus, along with a £12,000 relocation support package.

Additionally, a loyalty scheme bonus of £2,500 is available after five years of service.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) funding is provided at an enhanced level, allowing for the accumulation of annual funding over three years to facilitate access to higher-cost development opportunities.

The Trust is looking for a consultant to join the Samphire Ward team. This is a replacement position. While the primary focus of this role is on direct clinical care, we encourage the post holder to engage in service enhancements aimed at the ongoing improvement of the care we provide.

Key Responsibilities

This position entails providing consultant-level input and oversight for a 16-bed inpatient unit serving the Norfolk West locality. The Norfolk West Acute service is a pioneering initiative that strives for excellence and actively promotes career progression, including opportunities in clinical practice, research, and leadership.

This is a replacement role following the retirement of the previous consultant who dedicated over 30 years to the Trust.

The acute inpatient service is supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a specialty doctor, along with regular placements for foundation year doctors, core trainees, and senior trainees. Medical students are also welcomed. The entire inpatient service is further supported by a Lead Nurse.

Samphire Ward is a mixed-gender, sixteen-bed adult acute unit, comprising eight male and eight female beds. In instances where there is a higher demand for one gender, the facility can be adjusted to accommodate the necessary number of beds. We offer an inclusive adult service for individuals who meet the admission criteria.
