Café Operations Manager

The role involves overseeing the daily operations of the café, ensuring a high standard of service and quality.
Responsibilities include managing staff schedules, inventory procurement, menu planning, cleanliness, record maintenance, and general administrative tasks.
It is essential to uphold the company's reputation for exceptional food quality and service among clients and patrons.
Collaborate with the General Manager and Head Chef to implement business strategies effectively.
Focus on identifying and maximizing revenue opportunities while minimizing operational costs.
Strive to consistently surpass customer expectations.
Build and nurture a motivated, high-performing team dedicated to achieving clear objectives.
Ensure all team members are well-informed about their roles and receive ongoing support and motivation in their tasks.
Monitor employee performance in accordance with job descriptions, providing regular feedback and evaluations.
Assist in the administration of unit controls and maintain accurate records using the designated systems.
Support the execution of on-site events as needed, ensuring that unit standards are upheld by effectively delegating tasks to team members.
Collaborate on the development and implementation of revenue-generating initiatives.
Design, execute, and assess promotional activities with assistance from the marketing team.
Manage costs without compromising quality or customer experience.
Foster positive relationships with all colleagues.
Encourage a culture of adaptability and flexibility.
Key Performance Areas:
Operational Excellence / Client Satisfaction
Ensure the café operates smoothly on a daily basis and during all events, from small gatherings to larger functions.
Implement merchandising strategies to maintain interest in the food and beverage offerings, making efforts to boost sales when appropriate.
Assist in managing the catering team, ensuring their responsibilities are executed professionally and efficiently.
Participate in the onboarding and documentation processes for the Front of House team.
Conduct clerical tasks related to unit controls and records, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with the service schedule outlined in the contract.
Be present during service times to maintain positive relationships with customers.
Ensure adequate staffing during service periods while managing staffing costs effectively.
Respond promptly and efficiently to customer requests and feedback, both verbal and written.
Hygiene, Health, and Safety
Adhere to food production methods in line with the company's Food Safety Management System.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including HACCP and the Food Safety Act.
Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and taking corrective actions.
Implement cleaning schedules to ensure all areas are kept clean and hygienic.
Ensure staff utilize safe working methods and that only authorized personnel operate specific equipment.
Participate in corporate hygiene checks as required.
Ensure all staff receive appropriate training within the corporate timeframes.
Ensure staff adhere to uniform standards.
Maintain all work areas to a safe and hygienic standard.
Report any maintenance issues to the Operations Manager immediately.
Continuously seek to enhance food services across all areas of responsibility.
Customer Service
Maintain a welcoming demeanor towards all customers.
Treat all clients and customers with politeness and professionalism.
Address all feedback positively.
Ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Maintain discretion at all times.
Create a sense of urgency during service periods.
Communicate client/customer feedback to the Operations Manager.
Team Effectiveness
Actively contribute as a member of the catering team, supporting colleagues in fulfilling the overall contract.
Adhere to the defined standards of Graysons and the client, seeking guidance when necessary.
Attend all required training sessions.
Address the business needs of customers, particularly fellow team members.
Build professional relationships with senior management, providing assistance and guidance on product and cost matters.
Promote positive employee relations and minimize staff turnover.
Comply with all company and contract regulations.
Maintain a courteous and helpful attitude towards colleagues at all times.
Communicate effectively with all team members, demonstrating a positive and enthusiastic approach.
Financial Performance
Implement company control procedures, including weekly stock takes and completion of consumption sheets.
Ensure accurate attendance recording procedures are followed by all café staff.
Manage overhead costs effectively.
Take responsibility for stock security, levels, transfers, and storage.
