Job Title: Site Chemist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Chemist to join our team at our site in South Yorkshire. As a Site Chemist, you will be responsible for inspecting and sampling incoming waste materials, testing in the lab as needed, and ensuring safe handling and categorization of waste.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receiving and inspecting hazardous waste from industrial and commercial sites
  • Storing, handling, and processing waste materials in accordance with relevant permits and procedures
  • Ensuring accurate and compliant paperwork for incoming waste
  • Conducting immediate testing of incoming waste using test strips
  • Performing laboratory testing as needed for further analysis using techniques such as XRF, Karl Fischer, and flash point testing
  • Preparing and testing solvent blends from waste material against specification
  • Collaborating with site operatives to ensure safe and compliant waste processing, storage, and transfer
Requirements:
  • Immediate availability preferred
  • Must have full eligibility to work in the UK
  • HND in Chemistry as a minimum
  • Strong analytical chemistry skills, including XRF, Karl Fischer, and colorimetry
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Previous experience in waste management or a similar industry is advantageous but not essential
