Job Summary:

SRG is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Process Specialist to join their team at a leading waste management and recycling company in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and sampling incoming waste materials, testing in the lab as needed, and ensuring safe handling and categorization of waste.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and processing hazardous waste from industrial and commercial sites
  • Storing, handling, and processing waste materials in accordance with relevant permits and procedures
  • Ensuring accurate and compliant paperwork for incoming waste
  • Conducting immediate testing of incoming waste using test strips
  • Performing laboratory testing as needed for further analysis using techniques such as XRF, Karl Fischer, bomb colorimetry, and flash point testing
  • Preparing and testing solvent blends from waste material against specification
  • Collaborating with site operatives to ensure safe and compliant waste processing, storage, and transfer
  • Assisting with the control of material flows and maintaining container stocks to avoid delays and backlogs

Requirements:

  • Immediate availability preferred
  • Must have full eligibility to work in the UK
  • HND in Chemistry as a minimum
  • Analytical chemistry skills (e.g. XRF, Karl Fischer, colorimetry, and flash point) advantageous
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Previous experience in a similar industry (e.g. waste management) advantageous but not essential
