Position: Chemical Waste Specialist

Role Overview

In the role of Chemical Waste Specialist at Biffa, you will be responsible for evaluating hazardous materials upon their arrival at our facility, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and operational expenditures, while upholding rigorous health and safety standards. A proactive approach, confidence, and strong problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this position.

Key Duties

  • Receiving hazardous materials from various industrial and commercial sources
  • Completing necessary documentation for incoming materials
  • Performing immediate assessments and laboratory analyses of received materials
  • Coordinating the processing, storage, and transfer of waste
  • Enhancing waste bulking and repacking processes for improved profitability
  • Leading teams, assigning tasks, and ensuring production goals are achieved
  • Upholding compliance with site regulations and health & safety protocols

Qualifications

  • Minimum HND in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification
  • Experience in the chemical or waste management sector is preferred
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous
  • Chemistry graduates are encouraged to apply for entry-level positions
  • Strong organizational and persuasive skills
